| Duties: |
Perform analysis, modeling, planning, and review functions associated with the fluid-mechanical characterization of space, launch, and reentry vehicles. Provide technical support to Program Offices in technical interchange meetings, review of contractor analyses, and hardware reviews. Interface effectively with diverse engineering organizations, customers, and contractors. Maintain technical currency and familiarity with industry-wide fluid-mechanical modeling technologies related to space, launch, and reentry vehicles. Use existing computational fluid dynamics and engineering analysis tools. Develop new modeling and analysis tools, as needed. |
| Qualifications: | An advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in aerospace, aeronautical, or mechanical engineering, with a strong background in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and thermodynamics highly preferred. Bachelor’s degree and two years experience required. Demonstrated experience with aerodynamic ground testing, flight testing, instrumentation, and data reduction is highly desirable. Background in computational fluid dynamics techniques and engineering analysis of flight vehicles preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others and conduct studies independently is also required. |
