We are currently seeking experienced professionals to support the USMC Home Training Centers (HTCs) within a designated region as part of the USMC Reserve Psychological Health Outreach Program. The goals for this program are:

1) to create a Psychological Health (PH) safety net for USMC Reservists and their families, who are at risk for not having their stress injuries identified and treated in an expeditious manner;

2) to improve the overall PH of USMC Reservists and their families; and

3) to identify long-term strategies to improve PH support services for Reservists and their families.

The specific job duties are as follows:

  • Coordinate all activities with the regional PH Outreach Coordinators.
  • Provide an outreach visit to each major HTC, as determined by MARFORRES, by at least one Team member not less than once per year of contract performance.
  • Provide psychological health outreach and educational/training services to HTC Staff and USMC Reserve service members at each HTC.
  • Assess unit members to detect possible stress injuries using appropriate psychological health screening tools, and assist members identified as needing referrals to get the necessary follow on care.
  • Provide outreach services to larger reserve populations identified as being at risk for psychological health issues.
  • Assess unit members to detect possible stress injuries using appropriate psychological health screening tools, and assist members identified as needing referrals to get the necessary follow on care.
  • Provide psychological support and assessment of Reservists and their family members who experience psychological trauma as a result of a natural disaster (such as Hurricane Katrina) or terrorist attack or other full scale emergency.
  • Advertise services provided through Psychological Health Outreach Team.
  • Help develop and distribute brochures and additional marketing material to advertise USMCR Psychological Health Outreach Program, providing a description of the services and contact information for each outreach coordinator and team member.

Required Skills

Qualified candidates must possess:

  • Group coordination and organization skills;
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of the field;
  • Strong oral communication skills; strong briefing skills for both large and small audiences;
  • Strong written communication skills.

A wide degree of creativity is expected.

The ability to successfully pass a Criminal History Background Check is required.

Required Experience

Qualified candidates:

  • Must be a Licensed Social Worker OR an Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • Must possess at minimum a Master’s degree in social work from a graduate school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education OR a Master’s degree in nursing.
  • Must possess and maintain American Heart Association Basic Life Support for health care providers OR the American Red Cross’ CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

Prior military experience is strongly preferred.
